1. Hello, guys! You started this year in force with an album called ‘The Revenge of Sisyphus’. Please tell us more about your new album: what kind of tracks includes and how would you convince the people that they definitely have to listen it?

The new LP is 19 tracks. It includes every genre of 4/4 from house to tech to prog and of course plenty of electro. If you like any of that its probably worth a listen.

2. Who are the members of the Hot Pink Delorean project and what musical background have you got?

Chris Barlow, Jon Spero and Matt Simmers. Chris and Matt each have over a decade of Djing experience and Jon has been an MC for just as long.

3. Regarding your producer skills, what are the main influences? How do you get inspired when you produce a track?

We try to take influence from outside dance music if possible, but the biggest inspiration is our fans and the what our crowds respond to at gigs. We usually get inspired by playing a tune and seeing a great crowd reaction and then trying to do something like which ever track that is only with our own spin on it.

4. What is your opinion about house music nowdays from its quality point of view?

All genres of house music are the best they have been in years. There is a lot of 4/4 music that is carbon copies of other tracks in the genres, but there are a lot of gems. The real difference is how the fans react to the music. There is a lot more enthusiasm than there has ever been from the fans.

5. If you were to pick some DJs who have had some brilliant performances in the past year, which ones would you choose?

Dada Life, Kaskade, Swedish House Mafia & Knife Party all had great years.

6. Between music production and DJing, which one is your priority?

Its really hard to name one as a priority since the way we work plays them off of each other. Our music is made for Djing in a club, so its hard to say that one takes priority over the other.

7. Your favourite producer at the moment.

Dada Life is killing it right now.

8. Who would you like to remix your music?

Dada Life, Kaskade, Knife Party or Zedd.

9. How would you describe your sets? What are the styles you mix more often?

We mix everything from electro to house to prog and tech, but we play mostly electro. Anything that will get the crowds to jump.

10. Which was the most strange or unusual place you’ve been mixing ever?

Its hard to pick an unusual place since we usually play in clubs. One of the coolest yet strangest clubs ever was Flucc Wein in Vienna Austria. The club was built inside of an abandoned train station.

11. There is a place where you have not had the opportunity to mix, but you really wanted?

Madison Square Garden in New York City or possibly some of the bigger festivals like Creamfields or Glastonbury.

12. What can you tell us about: ‘Never trust a DJ who can’t dance’? Are you pro or against it?

That’s not true. In fact, most DJs are terrible dancers.

13. Why do you think most of the teenagers nowdays want to become a DJ?

Teenagers have always wanted to be DJs or rockstars. Everyone wants to be the center of attention and control the party.

14. Have you a favourite quote, something that inspires you?

If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, keep moving. – Dr. Martin Luther King.

15. Recommend us some ‘must listen’ tracks.

Dada Life – Kick Out The Epic Motherf*cker / Alesso – Raise Your Head / South Central – Sword

16. What is your favourite piece of equipment / gadget?

For Djing Serato. For production Cubase.

17. What else are you working on at this moment? Any scoops?

We just remixed Col Selini – Essential Love for Sharam’s label Yoshitoshi. Its one of the only remixes HPD has done recently.

18. A message for all your fans out there who love electronic music.

The best has yet to come. Be open-minded and remember that everyone is into the music for the same reasons. We all want to go out and have a good time, so stay positive.
